AMD has lower power usage nowadays so I would probably also go with AMD over Intel for my next build. As for laptops, I might still go with Intel over AMD because some people suggested that AMD might have compatibility issues.

AMD has better single core performance, but Intel is better in terms of multicore performance. AMD is currently only a better choice for those who care a lot about power usage and gamers.

I was formerly an Intel fan, but if I'd build a new PC today, I'd probably go with AMD.

Advantages of modern AMD chips: Lower power drain, less heat generated, better iGPU, faster clock speed
Advantages of modern Intel chips: Higher core count, more threads

What you need depends on the workload.
